The 5th Annual New York Dance Parade 2011. A collection of moments. St. Mark’s Place. East Village, New York City.
On Saturday May 21, 2011 over 10,000 dancers converged on the streets of New York City showcasing around 70 different forms of dance at the New York Dance Parade.
Dance parade is an annual parade and festival that showcases dance of all kinds as an expression of art and culture. As defined by its Board of Directors, Dance parade’s mission is “to promote dance as an expressive and unifying art form by showcasing all forms of dance, educating the general public about the opportunities to experience dance, and celebrating diversity of dance in New York City by sponsoring a yearly city-wide dance parade and dance festival”. Reason #467896 that I love New York City: I went out to get a late breakfast at Odessa and after enjoying some mighty fine pancakes I stumbled onto the beginning of the 2011 New York Dance Parade on St. Mark’s Place. There were so many great moments but this is one of my favorites.
In a city of around 8 million people, sometimes everything and everyone else melts away.
