New York City - Rain at Night

When I first started delving into photography, one of the earliest conundrums I remember reading about involved the debate between technical perfection and artistic license. It always struck me as an odd topic, particularly since I have always approached my photography as a means to express emotion and mood rather than a way to highlight technical prowess.

It’s difficult to say that there is one right way to approach art since all art is subjective. It’s important though to figure out what you are trying to express. Are you trying to express a…continue reading here…

New York City - Night - Alley - Chinatown

—-

At night

the city stars

shine like supernovas

in a vast

urban universe.

And in the hours

just before midnight

during muffled increments

of time

when the city’s heart

palpitates in time

to the distant lullaby

of the day’s remains

dreams sleepwalk

their way

through the

alleys and streets.

—-

New York City doesn’t have many alleys. This was taken on a quiet city night in an alley in Chinatown with my Sony A99.

Some of the best moments occur when night falls and dreams roam the streets.

New York City - Skyline and Empire State Building

The hour right after the sun dips below the horizon is one of the most enchanting hours of the day. It’s not quite day and not quite night but it’s a blended mixture of the two. There is no better place to witness this transformation in New York City than .. .continue reading here…

New York City nights - Empire State Building - Chelsea View

Taken with the QX100 and my iPhone.

Loving night photography with the QX100! This is a re-post from my Instagram where I just posted this photo.

If you are curious, I wrote a lengthy post where I discussed details about the shooting modes, interface, menus, and how the QX100 works with your smartphone or tablet (both the QX10 and QX100 are Android and iOS compatible). Here is the link to that post:

Hands on with the QX100

Ok, back to taking photos :)
