New York City - The Brooklyn Bridge
On hazy summer afternoons when dusk pulls its soft purple veil over the city, the skyline softens in the dreamy-eyed gaze of the clouds
And as light slides from the sky making its way over steel, wood and concrete towards the disintegrating horizon, bridges and skyscrapers melt with the sun into the evening.
New York City - The Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline
onto the end
of every phrase
like the sky hangs
onto the stars
above a city
full of light.
This was taken late last winter with my Sony A99. It’s interesting how skylines date images. In this case, 1 WTC was still in the process of being built.
The New NY Through The Lens
Super excited to announce that NY Through The Lens is all new as of today! The entire blog has been re-vamped from the way it looks to the front-page content. This was no small feat considering how ridiculously busy I have been lately with my freelance photography projects, my work for Camera+, and all of the traveling and press events that have been keeping me occupied for the last few months.
What’s new? Here is a list of the new pages and content that exists on this blog:
An entirely new About Section.
An all new Media Section : I have been meaning to add this section to my website for ages. Clients and other curious parties ask me about past, current, and upcoming projects on a regular basis and now I finally have a central source that I can cite.
An all new PR Section : This new section covers my social media reach, the goals I have for this blog (and its new sister-blog…!), and information about brands and sponsorships (covering both current and potential pairings).
An all new Gear I Use Section : I get quite a few messages and emails every week from people who are curious about the photography gear I use. This is a list of the cameras and lenses I have used for almost all of the photography I post to this blog (and social media). I also included my thoughts about each and every camera and lens listed in this section. I will be adding to this section frequently.
You can also now access my photography portfolio via the above navigation bar by clicking on Fine Art Prints. You will also notice a new link to my not-yet-announced new blog/venture (!) as well as a brand new contact form.
Other additions include new social media buttons in the sidebar, and a brand new tag index for easy browsing through my posts.
And last but not least:
You can now leave comments on my blog on each and every post! Yes, really. I have installed Disqus for commenting. I love Tumblr and I love notes but I have been missing blog commenting a lot. I get a lot of interaction on my Facebook and Google Plus when I post my photos there and it would be nice to see some interaction here on the blog.
That was a lot. Happy browsing and I hope you enjoy all the new content!:
New York City skyline, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
And the lights were shining like stars:
rays poking themselves
out from the edge
dancing with the
In the distance
a distant star shined
brighter and brighter
as the night sky
whispered bedtime stories
in purple, hushed tones.
And the lights were shining
This is a view of the Empire State Building as seen from Brooklyn. The bridges in the immediate foreground is the Brooklyn Bridge and the other bridge is the lovely Manhattan Bridge. This is a 20 second long exposure taken with the Sony NEX-7. Sometimes there is nothing better than waiting for the lights to shine their brightest on summer nights while the shadows dance.
