New York Night - Rooftops of Midtown at Dusk.
Dusk is the night’s love letter
courted by the sunlight.
It’s the time between night and day
when the city lights
transform into stars
in an urban universe;
supernovas in a skyline
full of dreams
and frenetic hope.
There are some nights that are so perfect that you just want to bottle them up so you can access them later. This is a 25 second long exposure taken with the Sony A99 on such a night. The late summer sunset slipped over the city slowly revealing a deep purple sky and a dusk that was unforgettable.
This is a view from a rooftop in midtown Manhattan in the area known as Hell’s Kitchen (also commonly referred to as Clinton). The view is looking south towards 1 WTC (also known as the Freedom Tower, and One World Trade Center depending on who you talk to).
P.S. - In case, you missed it earlier, here is a half-hour interview I did (me on video!) last week with This Week in Photo talking about my photography of New York City: An Interview with Vivienne Gucwa
